Look who made it into THE SOURCE Magazine! Well, not me exactly, but my artwork did. Seems the flyer I did for The Knitting Factory's G.O.O.D. Music show, was featured with a short write up of the show. I was so excited! It's been a while since my work was featured in a magazine -- especially The Source. What's crazy is the magazine industry is in BIG trouble. Even this issue is EXTRA thin. Most mags make money off of advertisements. Once the subscriptions drop, so do most advertisers. So to have something featured is a pretty big deal to me. Hope you enjoy this too!

This coming weekend, I'll be a part of the Hub City Revival Art & Music Event. I'll be pretty consumed this week gathering my best work and some surprises to display this weekend. Hope you can make it! Yoga Vayu is closing it's doors, so it's a great chance to say good-bye. Then of course the following week is Thanksgiving, so I'll be traveling to see family. After that I should be available to get started on several projects. I'm hoping to finish up these next few things I have scheduled, because in 2009, I plan on expanding this company of mine. 2009 is mine. Heehee! Hope you support me as I've supported you.

Something VERY EXCITING is happening on August 8th. The love of my life, Rugged N Raw is releasing his new album entitled Truth Serum. I got a chance to listen to it for the first time this weekend, and I have to honestly say, I LOVE IT! Everyone knows I'm very picky about what I listen to. If you can't find the words to say how you feel about something, this album will say it for you! Gritty, hard, a little funny, but honestly honest. I highly recommend picking this up. And definitely come to the Knitting Factory in NYC on August 8th to celebrate it's release!
I'm also very excited about this album because it's the first time I've put my other artistic skills to work on an album cover. I used no computer graphics or fancy tricks. All 6 panels, as well as the traycard and cd face, were all individually pieced together by hand. I scanned in the images and took photos of the panels and then layed them out in templates. The only thing I used Photoshop™ for, was to lighten some of the areas and make certain other objects sharper. Other than that, this CD packaging is completely and totally handmade. It took a lot of work, and a lot time and patience. I have to say I'm incredibly proud of how it came out. And I have to give a huge thank you to RNR for believing in my talent and efforts. Together we created a masterpiece. I'll have it posted very soon.

Well, my reign at BizBash Media is over. They did me dirty. REALLY DIRTY -- like an abusive cheating spouse. But not to worry. We have music and art! What more is there to life? Money? Well... maybe to pay the rent, but they don't call us starving artists for nothing, right? I'll be adding some more recent works from the month of May in a couple days. Happy New Year! Welcome to the new & improved KupiArt Website! Since the work load has increased immensely, I've had to make my site much easier to navigate. 2007 was an explosive year, and full of ups and downs. But it seems 2008 is looking a lot more up!
Not only am I still working towards promoting quality musicians, in the summer of 2007 I became a part of the BizBash Media art team. BizBash is the leading event planning magazine and online resource. It's very different from what I'm used to, but it's really opened some major doors.
In 2007, I was also commissioned by Downtown Records (Gnarls Barkley, Eagles of Death Metal) to design a t-shirt design for the new Kevin Michael/Wyclef video for "It Don't Make Any Difference to Me (1-Love) remix". You can watch the video here. (Keep watching until the end.) I also got the chance to work on the DVD release for Life After Death: 10 Years Later, a documentary about Biggie Smalls by ROC Darling Films and Spire Candidate.
Other than that I've continued to work on various projects for Star Trak Music, Koch Records, Guru, Mr. LeN, Elementality Productions, Shaman Work, Network Edutainment Group, and local up & comers DJ INGS, DefDom, DJ Juice E, Ameena Dove, Hasan Salaam, and Rugged N Raw.
I thank everyone who continues to reach out to me for their projects. I'm planning on slowing things down in 2008 because I need to focus on a few events coming up. Be on the look out for projects from Krucial Keys/Team Azor, more from Star Trak Music, and Uptown Underground.
On a personal note, I'm also getting back into painting and other mixed media. I may be making an appearance at one of N.E.G.'s Hip Hop & Art Event with live art. So definitely stay tuned! Have a wonderful new year and I will surely see you soon!
