TMR Creative Collective:
Jack White Button Design Contest

July 2025

TMR Creative Collective ran a contest to design buttons based on the Matthew Jacobson gig poster of the double-sided Jack White, Masonic Temple (Detroit) show. The prize for Best Overall Single Button Design received an 18 x 24 poster. The prize for Best Set of 24 Buttons received the full set of buttons—130 1.5” buttons + one jumbo button (featured on the reverse side of the poster) and some bonus extras. However, the submitted designs were so loved, the contest judges decided to do runner-up prizes. I won runner-up winner of the Best Set of 24 Buttons! I am incredibly happy! Thank you to everyone who voted. This means the world to me.

CONCEPT:
For the Jack White ‘No Name’ tour, the band drove themselves to the venues in a sprinter van. Along for the ride was a little skunk plushie from Ty©, named Rukus. He became the tour mascot and joined the crew pretty much everywhere they drove. I thought, how cool would it be for Rukus to collect buttons and various trinkets from (mostly) fictional landmarks he may have visited? It was a challenge but a good one! I mainly did this because I didn’t want to run the risk of designing something similar to another artist. I went in a different direction (no pun intended). This was a really fun contest. I haven’t had much time or energy to create something for myself for a while. The contest came at a perfect time. I hope you guys enjoy the work, and be sure to follow @tmrcreativecollective and @matthewjacobsonsmagicpaper for more.

Some of the buttons feature TMR branding, and you may want to avoid legal action.
